Four Weeks of Children’s Church Volume 1 and 2

Today I introduce you to Kristin and Chris McPherson from Children’s Church Ministry.

Thank you to Kristin McPherson who offered some free copies to our readers of Four Weeks of Children’s Church, Volumes 1 and 2 (that’s eight weeks!).  Unfortunately there are no more copies left to give out.

Each e-book contains four week’s worth of jam packed ideas and activities.  The e-books include really great icebreakers, games, songs, kid’s talks and more.  Also included is Kristin’s experience in keeping students listening and an interactive way to teach the memory verse of the week.

Kristin McPherson has attended church all her life, and received Christ as her savior at the age of 8.  Kristin and her husband Chris have been involved with and the leader of many children ministries throughout their life journey.  Chris and Kristin have five beautiful children and another on the way – so this is your chance to learn from someone with many, many year’s experience in children’s ministry.

Kristin’s creative approach provides for ideas that will keep the kids attention and will ‘stick’.

    Hi Rachel,

I work for your accountant and Rita let me know about your site. This is really a great idea and I can’t wait to get some time to have a thorough look. I am currently the Ministry Co-ordinator for Grace Lutheran Church at the Grace College Chapel. We hold a service there on Sunday Nights at 5.30pm. Currently we are looking at our childrens ministry (previously I was co-ordinating the Kid’s Club at the Church on Maine Road, Clontarf). Since my move to the Chapel the children’s ministry has mainly consisted of Kid’s talks in the service. Being a small congregation and having a limited number of volunteers to run the childrens mininistry, finding a resource that provides ideas for kid’s talks, in service activities and some easy to prepare craft/group activities would be great. Do you think ‘Four Weeks of Children’s Church would fit the bill?

    Hi Jenni,

It’s so lovely to see you here having a look around my relatively new site.

Just to explain a bit more, the first 4 lessons are based on the theme ‘We should tell others about Jesus, and the 4 lessons that follow are based on the theme ‘God is omnipresent and is aware of everything we do, say, and think. The books are laid out in such a way that it gives you some ideas on the structure of the lesson to assist in long term planning.

Kids Church is usually a ministry in itself, but if the vision for your service at 5.30pm is to really focus around kids ministry then good on you – go for it. You will likely get lots of families along to your service.

I have learned through my involvement in Christian kid’s ministry that interactive activities such as drama, puppetry and singing are great for capturing and keeping children’s (and youth’s) attention. You will find on this site some links to free puppetry skits and ideas and various other materials for kids ministry. Into the future I will continue to provide some other ideas that might be useful.

Oh, and if the Church ministry is being based completely around family and kids ministry, remember to consider how you will minister to them as they grow into youth and then young adults.

Anyway, again thanks for your comment… your name has (of course) gone into the drawer to receive one of the free e-Books… I expected more interest in this e-Book… you never know, maybe its still coming.

I am a homeschool mom who has felt recently that I should be working with the children’s church ministry. I am excited to get started but am so unsure where to start. I found your blog (as I was looking for lapbooking ideas) and saw these books.
I’d love to have these to use in my journey as I start to put together a great program for our kids at church.

I know that is you don’t get kids grounded in their faith at a young age, then they are more likely to walk away from the Lord as teens, or shortly after high school graduation. It is my goal and desire to teach kids the truth now so they will never part from it.

    Thanks so much.

I am a Sunday School teacher and have just started an after school program for children in grades 4-8. I am interested in the books because I will now have 2 extra hours each week to spend time and share faith with the youth.
